What this site is
A tray is a small purchase that is easy to get wrong: too long for the tank lid, rattan beside a splashing faucet, a mirrored tray with darkening edges. Most listings show a pretty photo and little else. We built this site to answer the questions that decide whether a tray works: what size, which material for which spot, how to style it and how to look after it.
How we choose
We have not tested these trays ourselves. Nothing on this site claims hands-on testing, lab results or scores of our own. Instead:
- Sizes come from published measurements. Tank lid sizes come from a plumbing parts retailer (Frank Webb) and a home reference (Hunker). Example tray sizes come from product listings, linked where we use them.
- Care advice comes from material sources. Marble care from the U.S. General Services Administration and Bob Vila, acrylic from eplastics, wicker from The Natural Handyman, wood from America's Test Kitchen, mirrors from Civic Screens.
- Maker claims are labeled as claims. When a maker says a tray is waterproof or rust resistant, we say the maker says so.
- Styling advice is labeled as taste. Rules of thumb such as tray length or arranging in three heights are our design judgment, and we say so.
- We recommend types, then show current listings. Shop buttons are searches for the right type of tray, not a single product we vouch for. Compare the listing's size and material with your measurements.
- No scores, no star ratings, no prices. Prices change daily and we have no test data to score with.
How the site earns
Some links go to Amazon with our affiliate tag. If you buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That never decides what we recommend. Details are on the affiliate disclosure page.
Corrections
Product lines and listings change. We review pages regularly and each page shows when it was last reviewed.
